Don’t let cold weather conditions stop you from enjoying the outdoor activities that winter brings. Climbing outdoor stairways can be difficult and even dangerous with snow and ice buildup. With a Hill Hiker® outdoor lift you no longer have to worry about your trip up or down the stairs in the winter weather.
Custom Built for Year-Round Performance
Because ice and snow make for rough challenges to any outdoor lift it takes a precise system incorporating the right components to withstand harsh winter weather. Hill Hiker, Inc. custom builds each of our outdoor lifts with high-end, outdoor-rated components designed to withstand year-round weather conditions. With a galvanized, outdoor-rated powder coat paint or stainless steel finished car and track, our outdoor lifts keep you secure on any snowy slope.
Outdoor Lift Longevity
Pictured in the photo is a Hill Hiker® outdoor lift system still running strong after twelve years. To resist corrosion and provide superior strength over aluminum and other materials, all Hill Hiker® outdoor lifts structural components are made with:
- Hot-dip galvanized steel
- Outdoor-rated powder-coat painted steel or
- High-grade stainless steel
All electronic components are outdoor rated to a minimum of NEMA 4x.
Our systems have been installed and operating for 20 plus years in some of the harshest winter climates including Northern Minnesota, Canada, and Alaska.
Planning to operate an outdoor lift in the Winter?
If you live in a harsh winter climate there are several things to remember while operating your outdoor lift during the winter.
- Outdoor inclined lifts are not snow plows and if there is snow or ice build-up inside the tracks it must be removed before operating. Similar to how a road must be plowed and cleared after a large snowstorm before it is safe to drive on with an automobile.
- If you live in a very snowy climate it might be a good idea to consider mounting your track system higher off the ground making it harder for the snow to build up in the tracks.
- Another consideration is using an electric heat tape product to warm the metal tracks and prevent ice build-up.
