Custom Solutions For Outdoor Lifts

Throughout the years, we’ve helped residents and businesses with access issues. Although the basic need is similar for each job, every property and customer is different.. That’s why we create custom solutions for the hillside lifts we make. Here are just two examples of the custom solutions we’ve provided in the past.

Featured Residential Outdoor Lift Project

Custom Solutions For Outdoor LiftsA few years back, we got a unique challenged, installing a lift in Belvedere California. Situated in the Bay Area, the location has frequent seismic activity as well as the tiered slope of the property. Because the property changed angles partway down the slope, we had to create a customized curved rail. The customer also upgraded the system to be constructed of stainless steel for extra strength, longevity and stability.

To ensure they received a smooth, level ride, we included a self-leveling system. This system keeps the car level as it descends and ascends the slope, even when the incline changes. Aside from the lifts need to offer a sturdy and offer a smooth ride, it had to match the aesthetics of the resident’s home.

To make sure the outdoor lift matched the customer’s decking and exterior furniture, we made a custom cart complete with matching cushioning and  wood trim. We even found the same type of wood trim as the customer’s decking. By adding these enhancements, the hillside lift system was able to blend in with the rest of the yard. And as an added feature, the residents chose to have a nifty cargo carrier mounted on the downhill end of the slope, a must for their hilly plot of land.

Many of our commercial clients come to us because they need to improve access for individuals with limited mobility. The Ozark Folk Center came to us with that need in mind. Situated in Mountain View, Arkansas amid the Ozark Mountains, the hilly terrain of the park naturally restricted people with limited mobility. Before we installed our outdoor lift, patrons couldn’t easily make it to the artisan section of the facility. The artisan section was a major part of the park. It was where individuals could learn crafts and see demonstrations.

To accommodate multiple riders, we created a wide cart, so visitors wouldn’t be delayed. We also needed to work closely with the Arkansas Accessibility Department and park officials to meet relevant guidelines and requirements. Last of all, the system needed to meet ADA guidelines and local building codes. Because of our experience working with state and local codes, as well as ADA guidelines, we were able to complete the process smoothly and efficiently.

If you visit the Ozark Folk Center today, you can either take the stairs on down to the artisan section of the park, or enjoy the 50 foot ride on our lift to the bottom.

Both the Belvedere and Ozark lifts were thrilling projects. They each presented unique challenges that allowed us to try new designs and build our portfolio of projects. To see more of the outdoor lifts we’ve worked on in the past, check out our portfolio page.
