For our first employee spotlight, we’d like to bring your attention to Adam Whittow. Adam has built quite a history with us throughout his seven years.
Where the journey began…
Back when he was attending the University of Wisconsin, he was actually rooming with the cousin of a Hill Hiker employee. He started working with us for two years – before moving to Florida and becoming an aircraft mechanic.
During his time working with avionics for seven years – he met the love of his life. She ended up bringing him back to the Midwest in Minnesota. Upon his return, Adam was soon reunited with Hill Hiker, where he has been for the last five years.
Why Hill Hiker?
When we asked Adam Whittow about his experience with Hill Hiker – he said he enjoys it.
“I love the different daily challenges of this job,” he stated. Adam also highlighted other exciting aspects of his career with us, including; traveling to cool places, working on amazing properties, working outside, and interacting with a lot of different people.
“It is also satisfying to see the reactions and smiles on customer’s faces when they see their lift going up and down the hill!”
Residential vs. Commercial and Industrial Projects
Adam works on a variety of projects – but has a slight preference for residential projects. These typically smaller-scale projects allow you to get a job done with just one other person. He also enjoys commercial projects where he can get the opportunity to work on some large, exciting projects.
What would you do if you could design your own Hill Hiker elevator system?
We asked our expert which top three features he would choose if he decided to install a Hill Hiker elevator system of his own. Adam couldn’t help but consider his lovely wife here.
He said they would both love a multi-stop lift that would travel through the house, pool, and lake/ ocean. He also recommended opting for having a completely stainless model.
For a little extra fun, Adam would want his system painted lime green – his favorite color.
Most memorable experience
As a final takeaway to our interview – we wanted to ask Adam Whittow about his most memorable project. Throughout his many years of experience, it was hard to narrow it down.
By far, his most memorable service trip was one to Ixtapa, Mexico. Adam brought his then-girlfriend for a little fun in the sun and snorkeling. Before they went into the water, he stopped and popped the question- where she said yes!
Another exciting moment with the company was the project that brought him to Mustique Island. Adam stayed in his private beach bungalow during the installation of two lifts. He even got to share his flight two and from Mustique Island with the classic rocker, Bryan Adams, and help his mother into a wheelchair. Adams wasn’t the only star that Adam got to meet on the flight as he also got to see Mick Jagger!
We are so glad that Adam has had as good of an experience with us as we’ve had with him. Hill Hiker takes great pride in our high caliber employees. We look forward to many more years with him and hope his time with Hill Hiker continues to keep him on his toes!
