Elevating Applications: Hill Hiker Nominated for The Ellies!

At Hill Hiker, we are committed to not just meeting the needs of our customers, but exceeding their expectations by providing an elevation system that delivers superior results. Our mission is founded on approaching each project from a unique perspective, and we continually strive to offer customized solutions that unify design, function and sustainability. We are thrilled that our dedication to excellence has once again been recognized by our peers and customers in the elevator industry with our nomination for a 2019 Elevator World Ellie Award in the Best Supplier – Special Lift Applications category.

Voted on by experienced industry professionals, clients and the public, the “Ellies” recognize North American elevator and escalator businesses that go “above and beyond” for their customers, employees, communities and industry. We were honored earlier this year to be the recipient of Elevator World’s prestigious Project of the Year Award for our work on the Patuxent River State Park installation (read the Project of the Year Award announcement article here), and it is a great honor to once again receive this recognition for our commitment to being a true pioneer in the inclined elevator industry.

The Ellie award for Best Supplier – Special Lift Applications nomination is one that is given to a provider who uses their products, skills and creativity to design innovative solutions for uncommon project needs. “Hill Hiker is often called in on projects that need ‘out of the box’ thinking to achieve the optimum solution,” said Duncan MacLachlan, Hill Hiker’s Head of Marketing. “We are known for our ability to meet unique challenges and come up with a result that responds to those demands in a creative, contemporary way.”

A perfect example of Hill Hiker’s ingenuity is our work on the Patuxent River State Park project. When it came time to refurbish this Maryland state park’s four-story observation tower, one of the chief concerns was building an ADA compliant elevator system that didn’t disrupt the organic beauty of the preserve or upset the surrounding wildlife that called it home. Hill Hiker was able to design and build a track system that utilized the same timber contained in the observation tower, allowing the track to blend in with the wooded environment. Additionally, concerns about potential noise pollution as a result of a highly mechanized system resulted in Hill Hiker designing a special electrical and drive cable system that made the entire installation virtually silent.

This commitment to innovation is grounded in all we do at Hill Hiker, and is why we have been nominated for an award that recognizes creative problem solving and strategy. Voting is open to the public July 16 – August 31, 2019 at elevatorworld.com.
