Elevating the Environment: Respecting Environmental Concerns During Installation

By September 26, 2019December 16th, 2021Blog

At Hill Hiker, Inc. we believe that energy efficiency and environmental protection are essential components for a building’s overall success. Respecting the natural resources and working within the existing habitat is fundamental to our mission. We believe that our role is to build a structure that respects the existing organic beauty of the location and to create an elevator system that enhances the enjoyment of the landscape.

Minimalist Approach, Maximum Impact

Our environmental approach starts with the philosophy of insuring our installations leave the smallest possible environmental imprint. The Hill Hiker® incline tram is specifically designed to be a smaller structure, so it disturbs less of the existing terrain than a typical stair design.

The Hill Hiker® rail/track is specially constructed to keep nature the star of the show. The configuration provides for sunlight to shine through, allowing the vegetation around and underneath the system to continue to flourish. We are committed to using environmentally safe products in our systems in order to blend in naturally with the environment, protecting surrounding wildlife and allowing them to live undeterred. Conscious of the negative impact that mechanized construction can have on animal life, Hill Hiker, Inc. has designed smooth electric powered car, chassis and cable integrated systems that considerably cut down on noise pollution, keeping the balance of the organic surroundings intact.

Eco-Friendly Components

Hill Hiker, Inc. is committed to using clean, energy-minded mechanics in all of their installations. By using the most advanced computer drive technology available in our electronic controls, we are able to save on the amount of power used and run more efficiently. By using electric motors to power our lifts, your Hill Hiker® system is able to significantly cut down on fumes and typical pollutants, like the fossil fumes emitted from regular oil burning motors.

We believe that using renewable energy whenever possible is an integral part of our pledge to building environmentally conscious installations. Optional on-board accessories such as lights, self-leveling systems, alarm bells, door lock systems, etc. on our tram cars can be 100% powered by our solar panel technology, and we continue to strive to find new and inventive ways to include renewable energy methods in our designs.

Integrated Design

At Hill Hiker, Inc. we believe that the aesthetic quality of an outdoor elevator system is an important part of its overall functionality and success. Incorporating the existing pastoral surroundings into the framework of a design is a Hill Hiker® hallmark. Our standard cars are made with see through poly-carbonate paneling and can be painted natural colors to blend in with the landscape. Whether it’s using the existing timber in the support tower or integrating the structure into a natural stone facade, we use the resources provided by nature in every way possible to unite modern technology with bucolic beauty.

We are firmly rooted in the belief that building with our environment rather than over it needs to be the cornerstone of all we do. Hill Hiker, Inc. is proud to be the industry leader in providing ethically informed, environmentally sound design in the inclined elevator system community.
